Remember pre-school?

When a teacher would stamp a Happy Face or Sad Face on your hand to indicate your behavior that day?

Why is it that kids loved it so much?

I honestly don't know.

But...

You know what I don't get either?

WHY IS IT THAT I LOVE STICKERS AND STAMPS SO MUCH ?!?!?!

I LOST MY STICKERS !

Where are they?

How am I supposed to say GOOD JOB without a sticker ?!?!!?

Although I watch Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl ... I think TV is lacking some good substance these past few years ...

Muppet Babies ?


Those were some good shows that actually taught something and were FUN.

I wish I could see Under the Umbrella Tree again.

How they understood ethnicity & race...

I have been trying to get my 7th graders to distinguish RACE and ETHNICITY.

After talking to my wife about this, she came up with a pretty cool (and simple!) idea.

I carried out this activity today.

It's been several weeks and they still had issues understanding the difference, therefore I couldn't begin to even introduce the Palestinian and Israelite issue in the Middle East.

After today's activity one of my kids says: "ohhhh like the Palestine and Israel people!"

My eyes must have sparkled.

I'm pretty sure a tear nearly made it out.

My smile would have been more powerful than the yellow sun and Superman would've been even more invincible ...

Then he said, "Like in the Zohan movie!"

And then he began to imitate Adam Sandler's last failure in movies, You Don't Mess With the Zohan.

Double-Sided Tape?

- Teacher, do you have some tape I could borrow?

- I got Scotch tape, Masking Tape, and double-sided tape.

- Hmmm, I'll take some double-sided tape.

- Here you go.

... he goes off for a couple of minutes and comes back ...

- Which side of the double-sided tape has the tape?

- It's double-sided tape.

... he stares at me ...

- So, which side?
